Ministry to get tough on violent crime
THE Ministry of Public Security has vowed to tighten public security and will take decisive measures, including staging armed patrols, to deal with serious violent crime.
The ministry urged public security organs at all levels to increase their work efficiency and improve the emergency command mechanism in order to combat crime.
Public security agencies should enhance control over densely populated places, including stations, docks, airports, schools, hospitals, busy streets and travel resorts, it said.
Police should also be ready to respond to people’s requests for help in handling emergencies.
According to the ministry, Beijing police will continue to tightened public patrols after the “two sessions” — the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference — both of which ended on Thursday.
The ministry will also reinforce public security in sections of key cities, such as Shanghai, Changsha, Kunming, Urumqi and Lhasa, in order to prevent and crack down on criminal activities.
