Monkey bites off seven year old’s finger
A seven-year-old girl in southwest China’s Guizhou Province had her finger bitten off by a monkey when she was feeding it in a zoo in Anshun City last Saturday.
The girl, named Wang Jiayin, visited Anshun Zoo with her parents and grandfather around 4pm. She was curious about the monkey and started to feed it with peanuts from her right hand. Suddenly, the monkey grabbed her hair with its claws and bit off the first finger on her right hand, Guizhou Metropolis Daily reported.
Wang’s father told the newspaper he was completely stunned when he saw his daughter’s finger on the ground.
He called the ambulance immediately. Wang had her finger reattached at Guiyang No.44 Hospital yesterday. The hospital said Wang is currently in a good condition.
Wang’s parents insisted that the zoo should take primary responsibility for the incident because the gaps of the monkey cage were too large. However, the zoo said they had set up signboards outside the cage, warning that the monkeys might bite people, and the parents should be blamed for letting the child put her hands into the cage. Both sides are negotiating on the compensation.
