Most beautiful charity school opens

A GRANDIOSE charity school that resembles a Swiss castle will open for the fall semester next week with 531 pupils in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.

Dubbed China's most beautiful Project Hope school, it was opened yesterday.

The school, covering 2,000 square meters, enjoys stunning views from its mountain slope overlooking the Yangtze River in Chongqing's Yunyang County, today's Chongqing Evening News reported.

The school proves a view in itself. Looking like a Swiss castle, it was dubbed "China's most beautiful Project Hope school" when its picture first popped online.

Its high cost of 3.5 million yuan (US$510,000) has raised eyebrows since it so far exceed the usual cost of 400,000 yuan dictated by the China Youth Development Foundation, which set up Project Hope to finance the building of primary schools in rural areas.
