Most browsers find government websites a bore
MOST Chinese mainland Internet users are "very unsatisfied" with government Website portals, which provided little useful information to meet their demands, said a survey released on Thursday.
More than 78 percent of a total of 450,000 online participants expressed deep dissatisfaction when commenting on their experience with officials websites opened by government agencies of different levels, according to a survey by the China Software Testing Center under the Ministry of Industry and Information.
Less than half of the websites' contents are related to education, social welfare, employment and housing policies that the browsers are most concerned with, the survey revealed.
Meanwhile, only 30 percent of the portals revealed government's fiscal status to public, while a major part of core information including financial report and construction project remained inaccessible, which frustrated surveyed participants seeking policy transparency when surfing the Internet.
On the contrary, the websites are often loaded with updated media coverage and officials' activities, which Internet users said had little meaning to them.
