Most of the petitioners from Baoding City in Hebei Province were persuaded by local government to go back yesterday, giving up a hiking tour to Beijing to protest against their textile company.
Local government arranged buses to carry the workers back.
Government officials were patiently persuading just a small number of people remaining there.
No conflicts or traffic jams were reported.
The protesters, all employees with Hebei Baoding Yimian Group Co., Ltd., walked out from the company yesterday morning to file a petition over the company's restructuring proposals.
