Most wanted 'sex trafficker' arrested

POLICE in Shaanxi Province have arrested a man on their most wanted list who allegedly abducted and forced 17 women into prostitution.

Zhao Chaochao, 22, of the province's Pucheng County was apprehended at a rented house on Tuesday, after a resident saw his photo on a most wanted list issued on Monday.

Zhao was working at a salon under the alias of "Zhang Jun" when police caught him, Xinhua news agency reported yesterday.

He is alleged to have been a member of a trafficking group that abducted 17 women into the sex trade from September 2008.

Zhao and nine other alleged human smugglers were on the third China's Most Wanted List on Human Trafficking issued by the Ministry of Public Security this year. Nineteen fugitives on the first and second list have so far been arrested.

Anyone who provides useful information about criminals on the list is awarded 50,000 yuan (US$7,477) by police.
