Mother ‘used baby girl to hide narcotics’
A woman in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was caught using her infant daughter to carry drugs, said local police.
Along with the woman, police also nabbed two male drug dealers.
On March 21, 2015, police spotted a suspicious vehicle passing a toll gate in Fangchenggang City. In a search, they found a yellow metal box hidden on the baby. The box contained two bags holding 125.2 grams of methamphetamine. They also found more than 300 grams of other drugs elsewhere inside the car, including methamphetamine and barbitone.
According to the Intermediate People’s Court of Fangchenggang, the female suspect, surnamed Liang, was a drug user. She gave birth to another baby after she was arrested and is still on bail.
Huang, the driver, was sentenced to a 10-year prison term and fined 10,000 yuan (US$1,500). Tang, another man in the car, was also convicted of drug trafficking, sentenced to seven years in prison and fined 8,000 yuan.
