Motorcycle gang attacks 4 in Guangdong

A motorcycle gang brazenly hacked 4 people in Guangdong's Chao'an County with knives early on Sunday, causing serious injuries, but no deaths.

A witness, identified as Lao Chen, recalled that he saw three riders during the attacks – two of them wielding fruit knives.

Families of the injured believe that these teenagers randomly attacked passersby to show off their "boldness" rather than for robbery or revenge.

Guangdong Police didn't confirm this suspicion but said they would carry out a zero tolerance policy to clamp down on those who stirred up trouble, New Express Daily reported.

"All of a sudden, I was attacked while riding my motorcycle. I fell on the ground and saw three teenagers speeding away," one of the victims, Xiao Chen, said. He had seven stitches on his head and needed further treatment.

Similar attacks have taken place in Chaoan County over recent years.

On September 6, 2008, four motorcycle riders aged about 17 hacked two people on their way home, causing the death of an 18-year-old male. They admitted that they had attacked people "just for fun."

One year later, four riders in their teens, in a pursuit of an "exciting life," killed one and hurt three others.

Police has been ordered to intensify patrols. One of the netizens in Chaoan wrote that his mother had told him not to go out in fear of further attacks.
