Mountain hikers struck by lightning, 12 seriously hurt

LIGHTNING struck 34 tourists in the Fanjing Mountain in southwest Guizhou Province on Saturday and wounded 12 of them seriously.
The accident happened when there was a heavy rainstorm in the area. Local authorities said it was the first such accident ever happened in their mountain resort.
The injured tourists, mostly from the cities of Chongqing and Guiyang, were sent to a local hospital for treatment. They were all out of danger, Xinhua news agency said yesterday.
