Myanmar urged to investigate murder of Chinese citizen

CHINA has urged Myanmar to investigate the murder of a Chinese citizen, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said yesterday.
Two Myanmar soldiers allegedly crossed the Chinese border illegally and killed a Chinese citizen on January 12 in Dehong Prefecture in southwestern Yunnan Province, the spokesperson Liu Weimin said at a press conference in Beijing.
China has urged Myanmar to investigate the death, punish the murderers, compensate the victim's family and strengthen the management of its border troops to prevent such incident from happening again, Liu said, according to Beijing Times today.
An unnamed official with the foreign affairs office of Yunnan Province told the newspaper that the investigation is still ongoing.
