NK leader to study China's development
CHINESE Premier Wen Jiabao yesterday confirmed that North Korean leader Kim Jong-il was visiting China, saying he had invited Kim to study China's economic development.
Wen said the trip would "offer the opportunity to understand China's development and utilize it for North Korea's development."
His remarks were made during his meeting with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak in Japan, the Yonhap News reported, citing Lee's public relations aide Hong Sang-pyo. Hong quoted Wen as saying: "We will try to form an environment for inter-Korean talks," adding Wen made it clear China was opposed to North Korea's possession of nuclear weapons.
