Nanjing to give travel coupons to its residents
A TOTAL of 20 million yuan (US$2.98 million) in travel coupons will be handed out to Nanjing City residents during the Spring Festival, a local newspaper reported today.
The Nanjing Tourism Bureau will give out coupons for the city's scenic spots to boost tourism.
Travelers will be able to use the coupons to pay entrance fees at scenic sights, buy theater tickets or use them at food and entertainment venues in the capital city of Jiangsu Province.
Some Shanghai residents will receive travel coupons from authorities in Hangzhou City next month, according to an earlier Shanghai Daily report.
Hangzhou is giving out 40 million yuan (US$5.85 million), of which 8 million yuan will be given to Shanghai residents, in coupons to boost its tourism industry. The remaining coupons will be given to citizens in the Yangtze Delta region.
Shanghai authorities are considering similar measures to boost tourism.
