A 41-year-old man has been sentenced to five years in prison for attacking eight women with sewing needles in northeast China, Shenyang Evening News reported today.
Huanggu District People's Court announced the sentence on the man surnamed Bao, who attacked the women in Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning Province, on December 28 last year.
The attacks stirred panic in the city and Bao was detained on January 10 this year, the report said.
He was arrested on February 12. Four of the eight victims gave up compensation demands, only asking for a heavy sentence.
Bao was released from prison on March 3 last year after serving nine years for theft. Before that he served in a labor camp for two years in 1998.
