Needle found in woman's uterus after 20 years
A 4-CENTIMETER-LONG embroidery needle was removed from the uterus of a 25-year-old pregnant woman in Jiangsu Province, Ceweekly.cn reported today.
The woman, nicknamed Fangfang, went to Jiangyin People’s Hospital to have a cesarean section recently to deliver her baby 8 days after the due date in Jiangyin City in Jiangsu Province.
The needle was discovered when the operation was being performed. Doctors took out the rusty needle and fortunately, it didn’t cause any harm to either the infant or mother, the report said.
Fangfang said she had swallowed the needle accidently at age 5 and it had pierced her alimentary tract and migrated to the outside surface of her uterus. She said doctors told her it had been encapsulated by the body and didn’t damage her health.
