Nepotism suspected in young woman's sharp rise in ranks
THE appointment of a 24-year-old woman as the deputy chief of a township in Xishui County, Hubei Province has aroused suspicion of nepotism, the local news website, voc.com.cn, reported today.
Xiong Si was promoted to the post of deputy chief of Zhuwa Town from her previous job in the county's housing department, according to an announcement posted on the local government website.
She moved up her career ladder very fast -- graduating from college in 2009 and becoming an official in the housing department in 2010 and becoming the town's deputy chief in 2011. It all happened in less than two years, netizens commented.
However, a requirement set by the organization department for this job requires the candidate to have at least two years working experience, and Xiong apparently failed to meet this requirement, the report said.
Xishui County government declined to comment on the young woman's promotion.
