New Zhejiang official named

REN Zemin has been named the new secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Discipline Inspection Committee of the Communist Party of China.

He succeeds Wang Huayuan, who was removed from his post last month and is under investigation.

Ren, 55, a member of the National People's Congress, was most recently a member of the Party's standing committee of Shanxi Province, according to Hangzhou-based zjol.com.cn report.

The Zhejiang appointment was announced yesterday by Zhao Hongzhu, the Party secretary of Zhejiang Province. Zhao said he fully supports the CPC Central Committee's decision.

Ren, born in May 1954, is a native of Guiyang in southwest Guizhou Province and joined the Party in 1978.

He studied at the Department of Industrial Economy at the Guizhou College of Finance and Economics in 1978.
