New bus tours set to reveal capital at night

TWO bus tours are to become available for the first time in Beijing for travelers seeking to discover Beijing by night.

Three antique-style buses will run two circular routes from the Qianmen tourist transport center from Sunday, the Beijing Bus Group announced yesterday.

The eastern line will pass through many of the capital’s famous tourist attractions spots including the massive Chang’an Avenue, the central business district, entertainment area Sanlitun and Guijie, a lively restaurant street, as well as Shichahai, one of Beijing’s bar streets.

The western line will stop at the Beijing Exhibition Center, the Central TV Tower, West Chang’an Avenue and Ping’an Street. The Central TV Tower is 405 meters high and provides views over the city.

Two buses running eastward will leave Qianmen at 8pm and 8:30pm, with tickets costing 30 yuan (US$4.4) per person, while the westbound bus will depart at 7:30pm with tickets 100 yuan.

Students, children and people over the age of 80 will receive discounts or free tickets.
