New jobs for fire protest officials
TWO officials in east China sacked after three people set fire to themselves in protest at a demolition project have been given new posts, a local website has reported.
Qiu Jianguo, former Party chief of Yihuang County, Jiangxi Province, is to be director of the administration committee of Jinchao Economic Zone in Jiangxi's Fuzhou City, said Xinfuzhou.com, a site established by the city government.
It also reported that Su Jianguo, former county director, will be the director of the Highway Administration Bureau of Fuzhou.
Qiu and Su were removed from their posts following a property row in Yihuang in which one man died and two women were injured after they set themselves ablaze in September 2010.
Ye Zhongcheng, 79, died and Luo Zhifeng and Zhong Ruqin suffered serious burns. They are still receiving treatment.
