Newborn missing after birth in toilet
A NEWBORN remained missing today after falling into a septic tank after its mother gave birth unexpectedly at a public toilet in eastern Nanjing yesterday, Modern Express reported today.
The mother was sent to a hospital after the incident. Workers spent hours digging up the large tank trying to rescue the infant but it had not been found by today.
At around 10am yesterday, witnesses saw the stooped-over pregnant woman walking into the public toilet. Unexpectedly, the infant was born and fell into the toilet and down into the tank, which is 2 meters deep and 6 meters square.
The pregnant woman felt uncomfortable after she woke up in the morning. “The couple doesn’t know much about pregnancy,” said the mother-in-law of the pregnant woman. “She thought she needed to use the toilet and her husband took her there.”
