News boss sacked over discipline
THE deputy editor-in-chief of Guangzhou's oldest evening newspaper was under investigation for "discipline violation," Guangdong Provincial disciplinary watchdog confirmed today.
Zhang Hongchao, the deputy editor-in-chief of Yangcheng Evening News, was sacked and taken for investigation on Monday for allegedly involvement in economic crimes.
Zhang was also the chief editor of New Express Daily, a more lively and commercial newspaper affiliated to the Yangcheng News Group.
The Hubei Province native entered journalism in 1982. He served with Yangcheng News Group as reporter and editor since 1992.
