No one wants to raise newborn of woman accused of luring nurse to death

A PREGNANT woman who is suspected of helping her husband molest and kill a young nurse delivered a healthy baby boy on Tuesday, but no one has stepped forward to raise it.

A woman, who lives in Hua'nan County in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, found a 17-year-old intern nurse for her husband to molest and lured the girl to her home. The couple is suspected of killing the girl.

Police said the woman, Tan Beibei, had had extramarital affairs and decided to find a girl for her husband as “compensation.”

Tan, a native of coastal Yantai city, underwent a cesarean section in Huanan County People’s Hospital – the same hospital where their alleged victim, Hu Yixuan, worked as an intern before her death.

The parents of both Tan and her husband, surnamed Bai, who has been detained for investigation of intentional homicide, claimed they were unable to afford to raise the boy, local news portal. www.nen.com.cn reported today.

Sources said Tan, who is in police custody, had wanted to send her son to a foster home but she was not allowed to because the boy isn’t an orphan, according to local newspaper Life Daily Post.

The mother and baby remained in the hospital this week.

Police said Tan waited alongside a road on July 24 and asked Hu to help her home, saying she had pains in her abdomen. At the home, Tan added sleeping pills into yogurt and asked Hu to drink to show her appreciation.

After Hu lost consciousness, Bai moved to her the bedroom, where he molested her. The couple then suffocated Hu to death, police said. Her body was stuffed into a suitcase and buried in a rural area, they said.

The couple was caught by police on July 28.
