鈥楴o safe haven鈥 abroad for fugitives
CHINA is working to shatter the illusions of offenders and make them realize there is no safe haven abroad, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said yesterday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese embassies and consulates had assisted related authorities in securing the return of more than 2,500 graft and economic fugitives from about 90 countries and regions, he said.
Among them, 38 were on a list of China’s top 100 fugitives in an Interpol “red notice.”
China had signed extradition treaties and judicial assistance treaties with some 70 counties, establishing a web of fugitive repatriation and asset recovery.
