Notorious armed robber sentenced to death

A MAN who committed five armed robberies which led to eight deaths from 1991 to 2011 was sentenced to death yesterday.
Xu Deyong was convicted of robbery and illegal trade of firearms by Shaoxing City Intermediate People's Court in east China's Zhejiang Province yesterday, according to Xinhua news agency.
Xu Gongwei and Ma Zhenhong who participated in robberies with Xu were also given death sentences. Ma's sentence has a reprieve.
Two others who traded illegal firearms along with Xu were sentenced to 11 and 10 years behind bars respectively.
Xu Deyong was nabbed after masterminding two fatal armed robberies near bank outlets in Zhuji City on August 23 and 29.
