Nude singing a 'no no' say police

A NIGHTCLUB in central China's Hubei Province has been ordered to close for three months for providing nude waitresses and singers for clients.

The punishment came after a police raid on the club in Wuhan, Hubei's capital city, today's Chutian Metropolis Daily reported.

The club was also fined 20,000 yuan (US$2,926.76).

Police have launched a 10-day crackdown on the city's entertainment venues to stop obscene activities, Zhu Xingang, vice director of Wuhan police's Wuchang District branch, said.

Yesterday's raid took place after a report by the Wuhan-based newspaper that women at the nightclub were nude when singing, playing and drinking wine with clients. The tip for nude singing, for example, was 300 yuan.

In a drinking game with the newspaper's undercover reporters, the women stripped off an item of clothing every time they lost in the game while the clients were asked to take another drink as a penalty.

Club staff described the nude services as an effective method to attract clients.

The managers of Mayflower Hotel, where the nightclub is situated, said they have suspended cooperation with the club management.
