Obsessive texts land lovelorn lecturer in hot water
POLICE have detained a lovelorn university lecturer in east China's Jiangsu Province after he sent 98 insulting text messages to a woman who refused his advances.
The unnamed 34-year-old doctor told Nanjing police that he fell for a woman surnamed Jiang, using a new phone number and the pseudonym Deng to send her a message asking her to be friends, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.
But Jiang refused, saying she didn't know anyone of that name, the paper said. Feeling humiliated, the man sent her 98 text messages during the New Year holiday to defame her and vent his anger.
His colleagues described the man as introverted and tongue-tied.
