A government official in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province has been arrested for molesting and raping four underage boys.
Li Jun, a section chief with the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau, used the QQ instant messenger to seduce young boys to have sex with him by offering them gadgets and cash to play money-charging online games.
He made friends with more than 160 boys under age 13 via QQ, and four of them were confirmed victims, today's Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
Li's crimes came to light in April when a father found his 12-year-old boy performed badly at school and grew irritable and silent.
Overwhelmed by his father's questions, the boy confessed that he had sex with a man in his 40s six times in six months and in return Li bought him a computer worth 20,000 yuan (US$3,140) and gave him 1,200 yuan in cash, the paper said.
The boy suffered anal infections and became depressed. His father took him on a trip to help him get rid of the sufferings, the paper said.
