A FORMER Communist Party chief of Menglian county, Yunnan Province, who was sacked for connections to a riot at a rubber plant, was sentenced 12 years in prison for bribery yesterday.

Hu took bribes exceeding US$70,000 between 2003 and 2008. Business people bribed Hu when bidding for construction projects, the court said.
