Official punished for abuse of government car

AN environment department official in Huoning County, central Henan Province was punished for using an official car to take his family on a picnic trip on Sunday.
A group of people having a picnic next to a car that showed the sign of "Environmental Inspection" were seen in photos posted by a netizen, the local Dahe Daily reported today.
The netizen alleged that the deputy director of Luoning County Environmental Protection Bureau used the government car for personal convenience.
But the bureau denied the accusations, saying its deputy director, Du Huyong, was monitoring sewage discharge on that day. The explanation sparked an outcry among netizens who questioned why he brought his entire family to the site.
Yesterday the bureau admitted to giving a wrong explanation earlier and issued an administrative warning to Du for violating government regulations.
