Official says his corruption diary is fabricated
AN official in central China has requested the discipline authority to investigate him thoroughly in order to clear his name after a diary allegedly containing his corruption details was exposed online.
The diary written in the first person between March 1999 to August 2010 first appeared on Tianya.cn, a popular Chinese Internet forum.
Although the diary used initials for locations and names, netizens found the career path matched that of Tan Zhiguo, deputy director of Enshi Prefecture Public Security Bureau in Hubei Province.
The diary recorded in detail Tan's bribery taking on various occasions and his extramarital affairs with several women, Chongqing Morning Post reported today.
Tan has requested an investigation into himself to prove his innocence and accused the diary author of fabrication and taking a revenge on him. Tan said he would accept any punishment if he was found guilty.
The case is now under investigation.
