Official seduced 4 young boys online, raped them
A GOVERNMENT official in the southern city of Guangzhou has been arrested in the molestation and rape of four young boys.
Li Jun, a section chief with the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau, used the QQ instant messenger to seduce young boys by offering them gadgets and cash to play online games that cost money, police said.
He made friends with more than 160 boys under age 13 via QQ, and four of them were confirmed to have fallen victim, Southern Metropolis Daily said yesterday.
The crimes came to light in April when a father surnamed Su found his 12-year-old boy performed badly at school and grew irritable and silent.
Questioned by his father, the boy confessed that he had sex with a man in his 40s six times in six months and in return Li bought him a computer worth 20,000 yuan (US$3,140) and gave him 1,200 yuan in cash, the paper said. Su said he gave his son 50 yuan as pocket money per week, but the boy found that didn't cover his daily spending, especially the money-squandering online games. The boy contacted Li several times when lacking money, the paper said.
"Li lured boys with their desired objects, like an iPad, iPhone and laptop," Su said.
Records showed Li graduated from an arts school in eastern Shandong Province and was appointed as a section chief in August 2010.
"I am a gay and I used to play a role in a military TV series," according to his self-introduction on QQ.
Su's son suffered infections and became depressed, the newspaper said.
