Official under Party investigation
LIU Zhuozhi, vice chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region government, is under investigation by the Communist Party of China on suspicion of "seriously violating Party rules," Xinhua news agency reported yesterday.
The 57-year-old from Jilin Province took the position as vice chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region government in 2008. According to the government's official website, Liu was in charge of agricultural economic development, °?housing construction and environmental protection.
The investigation was announced by the CPC Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection. But the investigators have not detailed his alleged infringements of Party regulations.
Sources revealed that Lin was involved in a bribery case with a former government official named Wei Xiaoping, the Economic Observer reported. Wei has already been sentenced to life imprisonment for his crime.
