Official who praised officer’s ‘heroics’ suspended over lies

A deputy county chief, who praised Li Lebin’s “heroic actions” when he visited him after the shooting of Xu Chunhe, has been suspended for lying about his age and educational background, Xinhua news agency said yesterday.
Dong Guosheng, deputy head of Qing’an County, was born in November 1974, but the birthdate on his ID card said November 1975. Also, his graduation certificate from a local university was fabricated, the local disciplinary watchdog said.
Investigators also found that Dong’s wife, surnamed Jiang, was still being paid despite being on sick leave since August 2011, Xinhua reported.
Dong had visited the officer to express condolences for his injuries in the station incident.
