Officials censured over coal mine flood
A WORK safety bureau leader and a township chief in Weiyuan County, Sichuan Province, were removed from their jobs today after water flooded a coal mine, trapping 29 miners for more than one day before they were brought to safety.
County government said Yu Liangcai, director of the county's work safety bureau, and Hu Yuehui, head of Xiaohe Township, were temperorarily removed from their jobs due to their negligence, partially responsible for the accident in Batian Coal Mine last Sunday, China News Service reported today.
