Officials 'indifferent' at fatal crash
THREE senior government officials have been sacked for not offering sufficient help to two women involved in a fatal accident with their van.
The three, with two other junior officials, were on a business trip when their van collided with a moped last Tuesday on State Highway 104 in Luoyuan County, Fujian Province. One of the women on the moped was killed and the other injured, Xinhuanet.com reported. The Website cited witnesses who said the officials acted with indifference while they waited for traffic police and medical workers.
The five were government officials working on a waterway clean-up project.
Police said one of the casualties, surnamed Ye, 35, was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. The other, surnamed Luo, 29, is in stable condition now. The van driver, surnamed Chen, has been detained.
