Officials sacked over outbreak of TB
Six officials were sacked yesterday after more than 35 students were diagnosed with tuberculosis in Taojiang County of central China’s Hunan Province.
The officials included heads of the county’s health and family planning bureau, the education bureau, and the disease control and prevention center.
The local government suggested that the county’s education work commission fire the principal of No.4 Middle School, where the outbreak of the disease was reported in August.
By last Friday, 29 students were found to have tuberculosis, along with five suspected cases.
Eight students from a vocational school in the county have also been found to have tuberculosis since last month.
The county government said it would treat the infected students at all costs and screen students at other schools.
Authorities for discipline inspection are investigating whether other civil servants were derelict in their duties.
