Old cows 'fed hormones'
MANY dairy farmers are feeding old cows hormones to get them to produce milk, it was claimed yesterday.
He Bing, vice dean of the law school at the China University of Political Science and Law, said the hormones could cause inflammation, and farmers would then feed the cows antibiotics.
The milk produced could cause premature sexual development in children and other diseases, he said.
However, the Dairy Association of China said such practices had died out.
