One dead, at least 24 injured in central China bus accident

ONE person died and at least 24 people were injured after a bus veered off a highway in central China's Hubei province early Saturday.

A bus, with 51 people on board, veered off the highway and fell into to a 20-meter roadside ditch, at 3:40 a.m. on Saturday near the Zhijiang city in Hubei, local traffic authorities said.

The bus traveled from Wenzhou city in the east, to Mianyang City in the southwest, about 2,000 kilometers away.

The injured have been sent to local hospitals.

Further investigation is underway.
