ONE man was given death sentence, and another life imprisonment over a toy factory brawl on June 26 that left two employees dead in Guangdong Province, court officials announced today in Guangdong provincial capital Guangzhou City.

Two local courts in Shaoguan City, Guangdong today also sentenced nine accessaries to prison terms ranging from five to eight years at the first-instance trial of the brawl case in Xuri Toy Factory in Shaoguan.

The Intermediate People's Court of Shaoguan held Xiao Jianhua was the principal of the brawl, who incited his co-workers to join the affray between Han and Uygur workers in the factory, and led the beating.

Two Uygur workers from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, who were verified as Aximujiang Aimaiti and Sadikejiang Kaze, were beaten to death, three severely injured and six slightly injured in the brawl.

The court was told that the brawl started after a Uygur male worker was found by other workers chasing a Han woman intern surnamed Huang in the factory.

Xiao and his accomplices used iron bars to beat the Uygur workers, and obstructed medical workers from treating the injured.
