Over 10 hospitalized in Beijing after suspected group suicide attempt
More than 10 people were believed to have drunk pesticides to commit suicide in Beijing, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
The likely group suicide attempt took place about 11am yesterday. All of the people involved, the exact number of whom has not been confirmed, were being treated at local hospitals.
Police have cordoned off the area on Beifengwo Road S., Haidian District, close to busy Beijing West Railway Station.
The people were found lying on the ground, and some seemed unconscious and had vomited, said a witness surnamed Li.
Some of the patients had a northern accent, and wore white T-shirts with a logo saying “The Harbin Railway Administration,” said the report. Harbin is the capital city of northeastern China’s Heilongjiang Province.
Some medical staff members told the newspaper the patients had drunk pesticides.
An investigation is underway.
