Overloading Blamed
EXPERTS say overloading caused a bridge collapse in southeast China's Fujian Province last Thursday which resulted in the death of a driver and injuries to 22 people on his bus.
A Wuyishan city spokesman said a seriously overloaded truck plus years of overloaded traffic on the bridge was the direct cause of the collapse.
A section of the Wuyishan Gongguan Bridge collapsed at around 8:50am on Thursday.
The truck, designed to carry just over 15 tons, had more than 60 tons of cargo when it crossed.
The bridge collapsed as the tour bus was crossing.
