Overnight firefighting extinguishes Yunnan forest fire

Firefighters extinguished a forest fire at 7:40am today after fighting the flames all night in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

No casualties were incurred while more than 1,200 firefighters and rescuers battled with the blaze, which broke out at 8pm yesterday in Xiaguan of Dali, said sources with the Dali city government.

The cause of the fire is being investigated while rescuers are evaluating the burned area, the sources said.

The expressway linking Chuxiong with Dali was temporarily closed late last night, but was reopened to traffic early this morning.
