Overpass cave-in kills 4 workers in Hebei

AN overpass being built in Handan, northern Hebei Province collapsed on Saturday night, killing four workers, the city government said today.
A section of the overpass fell off around 10:20pm and buried four workers in sand bags. The workers were dug out two hours later but they all died in a hospital 40 minutes later.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation and authorities have launched a citywide safety check in all construction sites.
The overpass is being built by the Hebei Zhongbang Construction Co Ltd, under the supervision of Shanghai Jiantong Engineering Supervision Co Ltd. It is scheduled to be completed in 13 months.
