THE Central Military Commission is reorganizing the Army of the People’s Liberation Army, defense ministry spokesman Yang Yujun said yesterday, with 13 army groups formed from the previous 18.
The move is a crucial step toward a strong and modernized new-type of army and is important to shifting the focus of the PLA from quantity to quality and efficiency, he said.
He said that the reform was now underway.
