PLA forms special unit to ward off cyber attacks

THE People's Liberation Army of China has formed a special cyber warfare unit, called Blue Team, to safeguard the Internet security of the military, Defense Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng said yesterday.
China is a victim of cyber attacks. It is important for the military to strengthen its defense capabilities against the Internet attacks, Geng told a regular press briefing.
Internet security has become an international problem, affecting both civilians and the military, he said. China is still relatively weak in Internet security protection, he added.
