Pair detained for fabricating news of horror

TWO men were detained for spreading an online rumor that 17 pedestrians were robbed and killed in daylight in a town in southern Guangdong Province within one month.
Police in Huidong County said they detained the two suspects surnamed Huang and Zhong, who allegedly posted a video clip showing a woman was stabbed to death by robbers on March 18. Their forged video story was carried by several local websites.
The suspects, both aged around 20, used vivid description which struck terror in many people who worried about local security, Nanfang Daily reported today.
The pair admitted that they posted the false news merely to attract clicks.
