Palace Museum allegedly damaged 4 more national treasures

The Palace Museum in Beijing's Forbidden City is said to have covered up the damages of four other top-class national treasures, the netizen who disclosed the breaking of a rare porcelain plate in a scientific testing claims in his blog.

The netizen identified as Long Can says that several national treasures were either damaged or lost in the Palace Museum, but the museum concealed them and didn't report to the higher authorities, Beijing Times reported today.

The claim made by the museum's deputy curator, Chen Lihua, that no top-class antique pieces had been broken due to human error before the lab accident was not true, Long Can alleged.

Chen didn't respond to the allegation directly but said the museum has standards and rules for handling its collections.

A researcher accidentally damaged the porcelain made from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) in a testing. The museum delayed reporting the accident for almost a month.
