Paper flowers disappoint festival visitors
A Peach Blossom Festival organized by a district government in northwest Shaanxi Province displayed fake paper flowers instead of real ones to visitors on April 8 as cold weather delayed peach blossoming, Chinese News Service reported.
Wangyi District of Tongchuan City apologized to the public on April 10, explaining that this year's peach flowering season was delayed for about seven days due to climate change and they had to adorn peach trees with paper flowers to create a festival atmosphere.
More than 5,000 people visited the festival on its first day but all left disappointed. Tongchuan city authorities said the festival had never been approved.
