Paranoid student stabs teacher's son

A high school student in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province stabbed his teacher's four-year-old son seven times on October 16 because he thought the teacher should be blamed for the discrimination he suffered at school.

The boy was injured in the head and lungs but his life was out of danger after surgery, the local Huashang News reported today.

The 17-year-old student surnamed Ren is from a poor family. His father is a disabled person. Last year at a school meeting, his father told Dong, the teacher, about his family's hardship and hoped Dong could help Ren at school.

Ren told the police that he felt being looked down upon by other teachers and classmates after Dong learned about his family background and he dropped out of school. He believed it was all Dong's fault and decided to take revenge.

On the afternoon of October 16, Ren followed Dong and her son to their home on the campus. When Dong went out to fetch water, he entered the room and stabbed the boy seven times before fleeing.

Ren was captured the next morning and is in criminal detention, the report said.

It said Dong actually had talked to the school about Ren's family difficulties and the school had waived Ren's school fees and gave him 500 yuan as stipend.
