Parents denounce killer rapist's sentence

An Australian man was jailed for at least 21 years for his sexual "reign of terror" on four Asian students that caused a woman's death when fell from a balcony while trying to escape the attack in Sydney.

Brendan David Dennison pleaded guilty on Friday in Sydney to 19 charges including murder of the 19-year-old Chinese student Wei Liao. The Supreme Court of New South Wales sentenced him to a maximum of 28 years in jail with a non-parole period of 21 years.

But the victim's parents told China News Service today that they think the sentence was too lenient for Dennison's "monstrous acts."

The 28-year-old man held four students in their Waterloo apartment at knifepoint in October 2008. For four hours, Dennison forced the students, three Chinese women and one Korean man, to have sex with him and with each other while he was watching.

He repeatedly raped all four of them. The girl and her Korean boyfriend made a desperate bid to escape from the third-floor balcony but they slipped and fell.
