Parents donate daughter’s organs after she dies
The parents of an eight-year-old girl in Jiangsu Province who died of a severe brain injury agreed to donate several of her organs so others could live, Jiangsu-based Modern Express reported today.
The girl, nicknamed Xiao Rong, was taken to People’s Hospital in Wuxi City on Monday night. Her parents said she fell down accidentally and hit her head.
Doctors said Xiao had a cerebral hemorrhage and they couldn’t save her, according to the report.
After being informed of their daughter’s death, Xiao’s parents decided to give meaning to her death. They contacted Wuxi Red Cross and allowed Xiao’s organs to be harvested.
Xiao’s kidneys, liver, lungs and corneas were donated to four patients at hospitals in Nanjing, Suzhou, Changzhou and Wuxi, the report said.
“She will be reborn in four other people,” Chen Yu, deputy hospital head, wrote on her microblog.
